2013 AFA & RSIG Joint Convention-Fort Lauderdale, FL, 

The first joint convention for Allied Financial Adjusters and RSIG is officially in the history books, and what a show it was! 400-plus recovery agents landed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from all corners of the United States. Announce Joint Annual Convention to be held April 17-19, 2013 -  Ft. Lauderdale, FL 

Allied Finance Adjusters and Recovery Specialist Insurance Group are proud to announce that our 2013 Annual Conferences will be a collaborative effort, joining two powerhouse organizations for 3 days of education, training, networking and entertainment. 

This don’t miss event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six in sunny Ft. Lauderdale, Florida April 17-19, 2013.

The constant evolution of and complex issues that face our industry provide significant challenges to our memberships and the industry as a whole. We hope to address some of these issues at this important event. We intend to provide a forum for discussion of these issues and to offer comprehensive programs and solutions to help repossessors face and overcome these challenges. 

All recovery lenders, vendors and repossessor are welcome to attend. Programs will include training on Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Compliance, the latest in legal trends and decisions, internet profiling, and much more.

Allied Finance Adjuster New State of the art website - Raleigh, NC.   

The member search function on the home page allows quick and seamless access for clients to locate AFA members nationwide. When you enter the debtor’s zip code the results will return all AFA members within a 250 mile radius, listing the members in order by distance from the debtor’s address. From the AFA Members profile page you can send an assignment, print their bond and contact information. 

With a simple click of the mouse on the home page you can request a 2012 -2013 Allied Membership printed directory as well as watch a short video from the AFA President George Badeen. The about Allied link will provide you with the history of Allied as well as trade associations and the AFA code of Ethics. The Video link has over 20 videos of our past conventions, educational speakers and CFPB compliance training seminars

CFPB Training Seminar - Atlanta GA 

RSIG and Allied Finance Adjusters Conference to present a day of compliance, Friday December 7, 2012 at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Atlanta Airport North. This is a full day compliance training event is available exclusively to members of RSIG and  Allied Finance Adjusters Conference Inc and their employees.

In order to stay ahead of potential compliance issues, RSIG and Allied Finance Adjusters Conference collaborated on a comprehensive set of office documents that will ensure your office is ready for whatever compliance related issues come your way. These documents will be discussed and made available to Allied and RSIG members at this one-day conference. The compliance seminar will begin at 8amon Friday, Dec 7th and is a full day session scheduled to end at 5:30pm with continental breakfast, buffet lunch and morning and afternoon breaks provided.

CFPB Training Seminar - Las Vegas, NV 

Recovery Specialist Insurance Group and Allied Finance Adjusters hosted a joint compliance training seminar in conjunction with Allied's mid-year meeting hosted this week at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

Michael Howk, RSIG'S Director of Education and Allied's Compliance & Education Chairman Tom Wentling, presented the full day session on compliance. Attendees were provided free of charge, sample documents that can be customized for their business needs as well as the policies, procedures and forms needed to ensure that the members agency is prepared for the lenders expectations and CFPB compliance.

Over 120 were in attendance at this very important professional development and training event. For those RSIG and Allied members not able to attend the event, the documents will be made available through future joint meetings and each organization's secure website for their use. RSIG and Allied will continue to offer their members updates to these documents and policies as needed and encourage their member's to begin regular training sessions with their office and field staff to ensure everyone is prepared to deal with these new challenges. Both organizations stand ready to assist their members should questions arise.

Eric M. North Training Seminar - Long Beach, CA 

“Repossessions: Before And After You Take Possession” The seminar, which was held Sept. 11, 2012 at the Long Beach Marriott in Long Beach, Calif., featured Eric M. North, Esq. of Moore, Brewer, Wolfe, Jones, Tyler, and North as well as NorthLegal Training and Publications. 

The seminar covered California repossession laws and procedures, and more than 100 lenders attended the all-day training session. Prior to Mr. North’s presentation, AFA President George Badeen presented AFA’s new video, “How to Select A Properly Trained And Qualified Repossessor.”

The day concluded with a networking reception, which allowed lenders and repossessors to exchange views and ideas about the industry. 

The Long Beach seminar is the second in a series of which AFA is producing nationwide for lenders and repossesor. The premiere event was held in May in Chicago, Ill. Given the impact of first two educational events, future dates will be set for target regions around the United States.

Mr. North is an attorney and nationally-recognized speaker with more than 30 years experience handling repossession-related issues for consumer lending institutions.

The highlight of the event was the awards show which presented awards to several AFA members for their contribution to the association and the industry.   

The Humanitarian Award was presented to the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund (RABF). 

The Paul J. Leuleu Award, was presented to George Badeen of  Midwest Recovery & Adjustment.

The Behind the Scenes Award was presented to David Keever of Midwest Recovery.

The AFA Rookie of the Year was presented to Robin Mathews of AKA Recovery.

The Leo L. How Award, was presented to David Sullivan of Select Recovery Agents, Inc.

Allied Finance Adjusters Conference welcomes owners of all recovery agency's  to apply for membership with AFA. While AFA’s stringent rules and regulations for membership remain firm, including site inspections and credit and criminal background checks, the Not-For-Profit AFA trade association is expediting the application process so applicants will be in compliance with the aforementioned necessities.

Allied Finance Adjusters Celebrates 75th Anniversary - St. Louis, MO 

St. Louis, MO – April 13-16, 2011 – To celebrate its long and storied history, Allied Finance Adjusters held its 75th Anniversary celebration at its annual convention at the Hyatt Regency which kicked off a three day event which featured RSIG certification and a “Black Tie” awards show to honor its founding fathers and surviving veteran association members. 

The convention began with a Welcome Reception atop The Hyatt Regency’s 18th floor with sweeping views of St. Louis as members and guests met and got reacquainted. Guest speakers present was Michele Stuart of JAG Investigations, Stephanie Berman Schneider Esq.  and Ron Berman Esq. speaking on “Limiting liability for lenders and recovery agents”. Adam M. LaBoda, who specializes in Credit Union representation, of Spencer. Fane, Britt and Browne spoke on “Legal issues involved in collections.” Mike Reiter of HAR and RABF spoke twice and held an auction of a tow package provided by Dynamic Tow which raised $11,000 toward the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund (RABF.) 

The highlight of the event was the awards show which presented awards to several AFA members for their contribution to the association and the industry.  Their Humanitarian Award was presented to the always humble and always helpful Mike and Rachael Reiter of HAR, Reseda, CA, for their work in the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund (RABF).  The Paul J. Leuleu Award, which is attributed to the AFA pioneer of the same name was awarded to Carl Purvis of Federal Auto Recovery of Atlanta, GA. This honor is awarded to the member who exemplifies loyalty, harmony and integrity to the association, its client and members, the member’s ability to promote, educate and harmonize the relations between clients and adjusters and the member’s integrity toward the promotion of the repossession profession. Chuck Cowherd of Action Auto Recovery of Los Angeles, CA was awarded the Allied Golden Achievement  Award for excellence in improving standards of quality, performance and awareness of Allied Finance Adjusters Conference between clients and members. The Behind the Scenes Awards, which recognizes those persons that dedicate their time and efforts to assist in the day to day operations that move this association forward, went to John Michael of WebWeaver  and Ben Jones from the AFA’s home office. The AFA Rookies of the Year were Harlan Cody of Careful Asset Recovery Service, Inc. Lynnwood, WA and Scott Fornaro of Coastline Recovery Service, Inc. Los Angeles, CA. The Leo L. How Award, which is awarded to Allied members who exemplify the qualities of friendship, brotherhood and goodwill. Was awarded to Matt Dubach. 

After an introduction by AFA President George Badeen, AFA alumni members Jack Daniels, Carl Grandinetti, Al Michel and Lloyd Swor provided the sharp dressed members of the “Black Tie” gala their recollections of the repossession industry from its early days. George Badeen was also presented an Alumni member ring. 

Allied Finance Adjusters was founded in the summer of 1936 by eight founders, most of which hailed from the San Francisco Bay Area with a vision of the industry’s future. With this vision they made great sacrifices by picking up and moving their families to places like Chicago, New York, Saint Louis, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and Washington D.C.
