Many of you may already be aware of the notice of intent to cancel every trade association’s current $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 insurance policies by the carrier, Travelers Insurance Company. This stems from a six month long investigation by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) regarding the crime policies the associations in the industry have been providing to its members.

An Open Letter to Santander Consumer USA, Chrysler Capital and MBSi Corp.:
Recovery/Repossession businesses across the country recently received a letter from MBSi Corp.—telling these small business owners that they are REQUIRED to purchase and download MBSi’s newest evolution software and operating system, Recovery Connect. Failing to do this, the letter said, would discontinue the ability of the repossession company to do business with Santander Consumer USA, Inc. and Chrysler Capital.

Allied Finance Adjusters (AFA) and Vendor Transparency Solutions (VTS) through our ongoing partnership are proud to announce the integration of the AFA vetting portal with the VTS platform. AFA is now able to order inspections and monitor applicants and members of the association though VTS. This new capability will simplify the vetting process of all new members and allow safe and compliant storage of all documents. Allied would like to thank all who visited the AFA website and utilize our bonded, licensed, CFPB Trained and Professional members in 2014. Our 2014 website stats indicated we had over 1,650,000 overall page hits, of that over 91,600 are returning visitors. Over 6,200 assignments passed our secure and compliant portal, directly to our members, no third party software here! In October 2014 AFA hit a milestone of over 315 members, not office locations but actual members! AFA is by far the largest membership of any repossession trade association. Our 2014 78th Annual Convention in Chicago partnered with RSIG drew over 500 attendees! Our "You Tube" page reached over 10,500 views and our LinkedIn connections are over 1,300. (read more...)

The search results page show each AFA Member by miles to your debtors location. 2014 AFA Midyear Event
The 2014 Allied Finance Adjusters Midyear meeting was a great success. Over 80 members and clients attended the CFPB Compliance Training by Michael Howk from RSIG. Allied demonstrated the new website search engine and interactive map. Clients can now search by the debtors zip code or address to locate the closest AFA Bonded member by physical office location, this an industry first. Clients can now view and download the AFA Members compliance documents and send assignments directly to the members without using a third party recovery software via the AFA compliant assignment portal.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is insistent that finance companies have documentation verifying the federal compliance of their service providers. The International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum Survivor Fund provides financial assistance to the families of our fallen in their time of need. 2014 AFA & RSIG Joint Convention
The Board of Directors of both Allied Finance Adjusters and RSIG are proud to announce that they have agreed to Co-Host another Joint Convention in 2014. While the dates and venue are not yet certain, it is a certainty that these two groups of nearly 500 combined members learned from their first collaborative effort that this is a winning combination. These two powerhouse organizations put on three days of education, training, networking and entertainment last April in Florida and look to come together to top that effort sometime in June of 2014.
Having just finished our unprecedented show of unity 3 weeks ago in Las Vegas, where we combined with TFA to put on The Joint Training Conference, we have now focused our full attention on closing and signing contracts with the venue for our next Convention. As you begin to plan your meeting schedules and budgets for 2014, we sincerely hope we can count on your attendance and support at this must attend event. Additional details will be forthcoming very soon!
As we did at both our Joint Convention in April and The Joint Training Conference in September we again intend to invite and welcome all members of the repossession industry whether they be lenders, vendors or repossessors. Again, all repossessors will be welcome, regardless of affiliation or non-affiliation. Stay tuned...

Golden Nugget - Las Vegas, NV
The AFA RSIG TFA Joint Training Conference initial expectations were for approximately 75 total attendees, then 100…115…150…finally approximately 225 packed the various training and education sessions. Overflow crowds took part in all of the education classes. CFPB training was conducted by the knowledgeable and always entertaining Michael Howk of RSIG. One hundred eighty three certificates of completion were issued. Michelle Stuart’s skiptracing presentation is always a crowd pleaser and this was no exception. An informative client panel engaged the audience with their compliance ideas and an insightful Q&A. LKC Services supplied hands on training for programming keys and included some very nice give aways.
It really was an unprecedented show of unity…and in reality it was more than just Allied, RSIG and TFA coming together as we had a large turnout of independent repossessors as well. All three of the participating groups saw an influx of applications and interest in joining their membership which is a true testament to the quality of the conference. All involved are excited about the increased interest.
This conference was truly amazing in so many ways…not only the training but also the great food & beverage, networking opportunities with 13 lenders and agents from virtually every state in the union. It wasn’t all work though as this group did manage to find a little time for fun as well. Wednesday night they enjoyed the exclusive use of the famous Gold Diggers Night Club (which was filled to capacity), Thursday night a large group went out to see a classic Las Vegas comedy show and each night there was a large social gathering packed in the Chairman’s Suite.
Looking towards the future, this joint gathering may just spark even more momentum for future events. Unity was a huge topic of conversation at the Joint Training Conference and the hope is that this will be remembered as just the first time these three groups came together for training. Stay tuned…

Recovery
Specialist Insurance Group and Allied Finance Adjusters hosted a joint
compliance training seminar in conjunction with Allied's mid-year meeting
hosted this week at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Michael Howk, RSIG'S Director of Education and Allied's Compliance &
Education Chairman Tom Wentling, presented the full day session on compliance.
Attendees were provided free of charge, sample documents that can be customized
for their business needs as well as the policies, procedures and forms needed
to ensure that the members agency is prepared for the lenders expectations and
CFPB compliance.
Over 120 were in attendance at this very important professional development and
training event. For those RSIG and Allied members not able to attend the event,
the documents will be made available through future joint meetings and each
organization's secure website for their use. RSIG and Allied will continue to
offer their members updates to these documents and policies as needed and
encourage their member's to begin regular training sessions with their office
and field staff to ensure everyone is prepared to deal with these new
challenges. Both organizations stand ready to assist their members should
questions arise.
As the value of training, education and professional development becomes the

Training Seminar - Long Beach, CA
“Repossessions: Before And After You Take
Possession” The seminar, which was held Sept. 11, 2012 at the Long Beach
Marriott in Long Beach, Calif., featured Eric M. North, Esq. of Moore,
Brewer, Wolfe, Jones, Tyler, and North as
well as NorthLegal Training and Publications.
The seminar covered California repossession
laws and procedures, and more than 100 lenders attended the all-day training
session. Prior to Mr. North’s presentation, AFA President George Badeen
presented AFA’s new video, “How to Select A Properly Trained
And Qualified Repossessor.”
The day concluded with a networking
reception, which allowed lenders and repossessors to exchange views and ideas
about the industry.
The Long Beach seminar is the second in a
series of which AFA is producing nationwide for lenders and repossesor. The
premiere event was held in May in Chicago, Ill. Given the impact of first two
educational events, future dates will be set for target regions around the
United States.

Louis, MO – April 13-16, 2011 – To celebrate its long and storied history,
Allied Finance Adjusters held its 75th Anniversary celebration at its annual
convention at the Hyatt Regency which kicked off a three day event which
featured RSIG certification and a “Black Tie” awards show to honor its founding
fathers and surviving veteran association members.
The
convention began with a Welcome Reception atop The Hyatt Regency’s 18th floor
with sweeping views of St. Louis as members and guests met and got
reacquainted. Guest speakers present was Michele
Stuart of JAG Investigations, Stephanie Berman Schneider Esq. and Ron Berman Esq.
speaking on “Limiting liability for lenders and recovery agents”. Adam M. LaBoda, who specializes in Credit Union representation, of
Spencer. Fane, Britt and Browne spoke on “Legal issues involved in
collections.” Mike Reiter of HAR and RABF spoke twice and held an auction of a
tow package provided by Dynamic Tow which raised $11,000 toward the Recovery
Agents Benefit Fund (RABF.)
The
highlight of the event was the awards show which presented awards to several
AFA members for their contribution to the association and the industry. Their Humanitarian
Award was presented to the always humble and always helpful Mike and Rachael Reiter of HAR, Reseda,
CA, for their work in the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund (RABF). The Paul
J. Leuleu Award, which is attributed to the AFA pioneer of the same name was awarded to Carl
Purvis of Federal Auto Recovery of Atlanta, GA. This honor is awarded to
the member who exemplifies loyalty, harmony and integrity to the association,
its client and members, the member’s ability to promote, educate and harmonize
the relations between clients and adjusters and the member’s integrity toward
the promotion of the repossession profession. Chuck Cowherd of Action Auto Recovery of Los Angeles, CA was
awarded the Allied Golden Achievement Award
for excellence in improving standards of quality, performance and awareness of
Allied Finance Adjusters Conference between clients and members. The Behind the Scenes Awards, which
recognizes those persons that dedicate their time and efforts to assist in the
day to day operations that move this association forward, went to John Michael of WebWeaver
and
Ben Jones from the AFA’s home
office. The AFA Rookies of the Year
were Harlan Cody of Careful Asset
Recovery Service, Inc. Lynnwood, WA and Scott
Fornaro of Coastline Recovery Service, Inc. Los Angeles, CA. The Leo L. How Award, which is awarded to Allied
members who exemplify the qualities of friendship, brotherhood and goodwill. Was awarded to Matt Dubach.
After
an introduction by AFA President George Badeen, AFA alumni members Jack
Daniels, Carl Grandinetti, Al Michel and Lloyd Swor provided the sharp dressed
members of the “Black Tie” gala their recollections of the repossession
industry from its early days. George Badeen was also presented an Alumni member
ring.
Allied
Finance Adjusters was founded in the summer of 1936 by eight founders, most of
which hailed from the San Francisco Bay Area with a vision of the industry’s
future. With this vision they made great sacrifices by picking up and moving
their families to places like Chicago, New York, Saint Louis, Los Angeles,
Pittsburgh and Washington D.C.
